What Serious Sam 4 is
Serious Sam 4 is a first-person shooter prequel from Croteam. Humanity is under siege as Mental's hordes spread across the world, and the last resistance is the Earth Defense Force led by Sam "Serious" Stone and his squad of misfit commandos. The classic formula is back: a big arsenal against an unimaginable number of enemies, where you circle-strafe and backpedal-blast your way out of impossible situations. The iconic invaders return, including the Headless Kamikaze, Beheaded Rocketeer, Kleer, Scrapjack, Werebull, and Khnum, alongside new threats like the Processed, Belcher, and Zealot. The Legion System fills battlefields with thousands of enemies for some of the biggest moments in the series' history.
Playing together
The action-packed campaign supports 4-player online co-op. You and your friends smash through the campaign as a group, taking on primary missions and side quests. Side quests come with modified difficulties for an extra challenge, so there is room to push yourselves once the main path feels comfortable. The weapon roster gives everyone tools for different situations: the double-barreled shotgun, minigun, chainsaw launcher, auto shotgun, cannon, lock-on rocket launcher, and laser beam. With thousands of enemies on screen, staying together and covering each other's angles matters as much as raw firepower.

Expect a fast-paced shooter built around constant movement. Standing still against these numbers is a quick way to go down, so keep strafing and backpedaling while firing. The enemy roster mixes fast rushers like the Kleer with heavy hitters and towering monsters, so target priority shifts constantly across a fight. The game leans into comedy with perfectly timed one-liners and pairs the carnage with a soundtrack that keeps the pace up. It is tagged as difficult and violent, with gore, so go in ready for a demanding, high-volume fight rather than a slow tactical crawl.
