Fighting the Primers in EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 5
EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 5 is a third-person arcade shooter set in the year 2022. An immense fleet of starships lays siege to an EDF base in the Kanto region of Japan, and enormous insects attack from below. You take on missions as an EDF soldier against these unknown life forms, known as the Primers. This entry introduces the series' first humanoid aliens, an intelligent extraterrestrial civilization. Battles are large in scale, with endless hordes of immense enemies to push back.
Playing with your group
Every mission supports online co-op for up to 4 players, and local split-screen is available as well. You pick one of four classes before each mission and can switch classes as often as you like between missions. Finishing missions unlocks new classes and advances the story, so the group can trade roles and cover each other's weaknesses. This entry has more missions and weapons than any before it, giving a squad plenty of ground to clear together.
What to know before starting
Armor peels off enemies where you shoot them, and their fluids spill onto buildings and floors, so expect gore and violent combat. The game is tagged as difficult, and the Primers are intelligent foes that push back hard. The story begins in Japan in 2022 and unfolds as you complete missions, so playing through in order keeps the context clear.
