What Scamper is
Scamper puts you in the role of a rat moving fast through environments that shift between two states. The timeline tracks have split, and you can scamper between them by adjusting the frequency of your energy. High frequency fills the world with tropical flora, fauna, water features, and underground caves, with nature alive and the time of day always changing. Low frequency drops you into a sewer system beneath a cold city haunted by the echoes of civilization. The frequency is never exactly the same, so each environment shifts and feels slightly different every time you enter.
Playing together
You can go alone or with other rats. The mission stays the same either way: you find an environment where another rat is lost, and your job is to help that rat escape. Moving quickly with your hands and arms is how you guide the lost rat to safety, so the group's coordination matters more than anything else. Online co-op lets you and your friends take on the search together, splitting attention between the shifting environments and the rat you are trying to lead out.
Before you start
Expect a tense, unsettling tone rather than a relaxed stroll. The game leans on fear responses, stealth, and psychological horror, and it asks you to move with quick steps through fear or excitement. What you choose to do with that fear is the point. Environments change on every entry, so routes you learned on one run may not line up the same way on the next, and the split between high and low frequency means you are never exploring a fixed version of the world. Time management and strategy come into play alongside parkour and puzzle solving, since guiding the lost rat to safety depends on reading the space and reacting quickly.
