A NEOGEO classic brought to Steam
SAMURAI SHODOWN V SPECIAL was the last game made for SNK's NEOGEO back in 2004, and this release carries it over with the uncensored graphics and effects from the original MVS version. It is a 2D fighter built around samurai duels, with a cast of over 28 unique playable characters. That roster includes previous boss characters from the series such as Gaoh, Amakusa, Mizuki, and Zakuro, alongside plenty of returning fan favorites. The signature addition here is the character-specific Overkill Moves, which are used to finish off an opponent with style.
Playing together with your group
The core of the game is fighting other people, and online matches are on the table. You can cross swords with players from around the world, and a Leaderboard tracks who sits at the very top. Remote Play Together is also supported, so your group can get into matches through that as well. Between fights, training mode is there for working on your play, and a wide set of adjustable settings lets you tune things to your liking.
Before you start
This is a fighting game with gore and uncensored finishing effects, so keep that in mind before you jump in. The cast is large, so expect some time spent learning characters and their Overkill Moves. Art and illustrations unlock by fulfilling specific in-game conditions, and you can pick your favorite SAMURAI SHODOWN V SPECIAL tracks as the menu music.
