A fast shooter with roguelite runs
Roboquest drops you into a scorched futureworld in the year 2700, where a scavenger girl named Max has rebooted an old Guardian robot. You play as that Guardian, fighting through canyons crawling with evil bots. Each run takes you through randomly generated environments with different themes and atmospheres, built from a mix of pre-placed and randomized chunks, so no two runs play out the same. Along the way you pick up upgrades, build synergies between them, and take on powerful bosses. The weapon list covers shotguns, rifles, snipers, mortars, and flare guns, and you can pick from several Guardian Classes, each with its own style, whether that's leading a drone army, clearing rooms with rockets, or going in stealthy for a burst attack.
Playing together
Roboquest works as a singleplayer game or as 2-player online co-op with a friend. You and your partner push through the levels together, splitting the enemy fire and combining your class abilities and builds to take down hordes of bots and the big bosses. Cross-platform and public matchmaking are there if you want to find more players beyond your usual group. Movement is fast and demanding for both of you: mastering running, jumping, and evasive maneuvers against enemy bullet-hell attacks is what keeps a co-op run alive.
What to know before starting
Runs are tough and built around permadeath. When the bots destroy you, you return to basecamp, but the wrenches you collected during the run stick around. Spend them on basecamp upgrades and unlock new gameplay elements and choices, which is how you push deeper into the game on later attempts. Learning enemy patterns and tightening up your movement and shooting matters more than any single build. The game pairs its fast action with a custom original soundtrack, and the input system is tuned to stay responsive so nothing gets in the way of the shooting.
