A platform fighter built on the four elements

Rivals of Aether is a 2D fighting game where warring civilizations summon the power of Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. You pick a Rival and take it into the battlefield, combining the classical elements with animal movement. The game is aimed at the platform fighter genre and includes training tools, from beginner lessons up to advanced ones, plus a practice mode with frame data and hitbox visualizations.

Playing together

Versus mode covers competitive 1v1 and 2v2 fights, or a free-for-all with up to four players. You can play locally or online, with drop-in local co-op available. Online versus lets you play against friends with your own rules, while ranked mode puts you on the leaderboard. Abyss mode sends you and a friend through waves of shadowy fighters, with leaderboard placement based on how far you get, and Abyss Versus lets you customize your build and challenge friends. Tetherball is a sport-themed mode set on the beach.

Before you start

Story mode covers the backstory of each rival and the hidden mysteries of Aether. The roster includes Zetterburn, Orcane, Wrastor, Kragg, Forsburn, and Maypul, each with distinct abilities: Zetterburn burns opponents and amplifies his Strong Attacks with those flames, Orcane teleports to puddles he creates, Wrastor jumps four times and charges Strong Attacks in the air, Kragg pulls rocks and summons earth pillars, Forsburn hides in smoke and creates a decoy, and Maypul marks opponents to trap and sling toward them. The game is tagged as moddable and supports Remote Play Together.
