What the game is

RiffTrax: The Game is a party game where players compete to write the funniest jokes for bad movie clips. The game features Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett, the comedians behind the commentary on "Mystery Science Theater 3000" and RiffTrax. The library holds over 500 movie clips from RiffTrax classics such as "Rollergator", "Attack Of The Super Monsters" and "Plan 9 From Outer Space". You can write your own riff and watch it play back through text-to-speech, or pick from thousands of riffs written by the RiffTrax team.

How a group plays together

The host starts a game from the main menu and picks a game mode, settings and visibility: public, private or local. Everyone else connects from any internet connected device, such as a phone, laptop or tablet, by entering their name and the room code shown on the host's PC/Mac. You type your riffs on that device while the clips play back on the host's screen. The game supports 3-6 players with an optional bot, plus a single player option and two players with a computer controlled bot. An additional 12 audience members can play along. Voice chat starts if you have a mic connected, and you can adjust it from the pause menu. Cross play and online multiplayer matchmaking are supported, and streamers can bring their chat in through Twitch integration, where viewers vote, choose clips or play along.

What to know before starting

Joining a private game requires a copy of the game and a room code from the host. If you want to join a remote game without buying it, the host can share their screen through Zoom, Discord or Steam; as long as you can see the screen, you can take part. The game runs on PC/Mac, with other devices used as controllers through the website.
