Escaping Raccoon City as Jill Valentine
Resident Evil 3 follows Jill Valentine, one of the last people left in Raccoon City who has seen what Umbrella has been doing there. Umbrella wants her silenced and sends its ultimate secret weapon after her: Nemesis. You play in third person, moving through the city streets and interiors while dealing with the infected and with a pursuer who keeps coming back. The tension comes from limited resources, tight corridors, and the constant pressure of being hunted rather than from open exploration. Expect a straightforward action-horror campaign with a set story that runs from start to finish.
Playing together with your group
If your group wants to play together, the part to look at is Resident Evil Resistance, which comes included with this game. Resistance is an online 1 vs 4 multiplayer mode set in the Resident Evil universe: four survivors go up against one sinister Mastermind. The survivors work as a team to hold out and get through, while the Mastermind manipulates the area against them from the outside. That split creates an asymmetric match where communication on the survivor side matters, and where one player gets to run the whole opposition instead of fighting directly. It is a separate mode from Jill's campaign, so one person can be in the story while others are in Resistance.
Before you start
The package contains two distinct experiences: the single-player campaign and the 1 vs 4 online Resistance mode. The campaign is a solo affair with Steam Achievements to work through, while Resistance requires going online for PvP matches. Controller support is full, so you can play either mode from the couch with a pad. Progress and saves can be kept through Steam Cloud, and the game supports HDR if your display has it. Family Sharing is available for the account, and Remote Play on Tablet lets the game be streamed to a tablet. Steam Trading Cards are also included for anyone who collects them.
