What Relic Hunters Zero: Remix is

This is a top-down twin-stick shooter set in the Asteroid Dungeon Nemesis, a place that once held legendary relics of power. Duke Ducan wants those artifacts so he can raise his ducks to rule the galaxy, and the crew of the Spaceheart shows up to stop him. You run, gun, and dodge through waves of space ducks and evil space turtles with small, cute guns. The shooting is fast and tactical, and the whole thing feels smooth in the hand. Seven Relic Hunters are playable — Jimmy, Pinkyy, Ace, Panzer, Biu, Raff, and Red — and each one comes with their own stats, skills, and skins, so switching characters changes how a run plays. Along the way you unlock new weapons, characters, and relics to help you take down Duke, the Ducan Commander.

Playing it as a group

Couch Co-Op lets up to 2 players team up in local multiplayer, which opens up new strategies and battle tactics you would not get alone. Remote Play Together is also listed as a Steam feature, so a friend can join in from their own machine. Beyond co-op, the game has several modes to pick from: the classic 12-level Adventure Mode with unlockable relics and items, an "Endless" Mode with its own mechanics and economy, and a "Storm" Mode that ramps up difficulty and chaos over time. Daily Mode gives everyone the same random challenge, so your group can compare how each of you handled it. The Asteroid Dungeon Nemesis is also packed with community-designed weapons worth hunting down.

Before you start

The game is free to play and tagged as a roguelike and looter shooter, so expect runs where you build up weapons and relics as you go, with the layout and drops shifting each time. Ducan commanders and mini-bosses show up to overwhelm you and your partner, so keep moving and watch your positioning. The chiptune soundtrack is built to keep the pace up as you cut through swarms. In-game achievements cover a range of challenges, giving you something to chase between runs.
