A one-hit railgun arena shooter
Ratz Instagib is a fast first-person shooter where you play as a railgun-toting rat. Every shot is a potential kill, so there is no whittling down an opponent's health. The game aims for a totally level playing field: everyone has one gun and one shot, which means no one gets an unfair advantage from better gear. The arenas are based on real-world household environments, giving the sci-fi blasting a cartoonish, colorful feel.
How your group plays together
This is an online PvP game where it is every rat for themselves. Your group can jump into matches across several modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture The Flag, and Freeze Tag. Beyond the 13 built-in maps, there is a large supply of user-created arenas to keep matches fresh. Movement is a big part of the fight; a dedicated Rocket Jump button lets you launch yourself around, and staying on the move makes you a harder target to hit.
Before you start
Expect a high skill ceiling where missing your single shot can cost you your life, since deaths happen instantly. As you play, you will unlock customization items for your rat along with different beam and frag types to change your look. The game also includes stat tracking and leaderboards if you want to measure your progress against other players. If you feel like building instead of fighting, the RatzEd map editor lets you create your own stages and share them with the community through Steam Workshop.
