What UpGun is
UpGun is a first-person arena shooter where you fight your friends as small stylized robots. Rounds are short and fast: each one you pick up a skill, so your loadout grows as the match goes on. The style is cartoon-like and colorful, with animation variety across characters. A round rarely plays the same twice, because the upgrades you stack change what your robot can do.
How a group plays together
Everyone faces each other in a deathmatch, and the fun comes from reading what your opponents are building. There are more than 50 skills and upgrades to pick from, from a plain health bonus to exploding bullets to a grenade that spawns more grenades. You choose one upgrade each round, and your choice is a reaction to what the others are doing. If someone leans on explosives, you can specialize in long-range shooting to stay out of the blast. If someone is charging in melee, you can pick upgrades that turn you into a bomb. That back-and-forth is the core of the game: build a plan, then counter the plan being built against you.
Maps and customization
Each map is unique and pushes a different play style, highlighting some abilities over others so the same build does not dominate every match. Shifting between maps keeps the synergy choices interesting and rewards players who adapt instead of repeating one setup. Between fights you can collect cosmetics and hats for your robot, with over 200 available, so your character ends up looking like your own.
Before you start
Expect a pick-up-and-play arcade shooter rather than a tactical one: matches are casual, action-heavy, and built around constant upgrading. Online PvP is the main way to play against others, and LAN is supported if your group wants to play on a local network. Steam inventory and statistics are included, and cosmetics come through Steam inventory. Get a group together, agree on a map, and spend your first few rounds figuring out which skills your friends keep leaning on.
