A cardboard world built for playing together
Pile Up! Box by Box is a cooperative 3D platformer set in colorful cardboard worlds. You explore open-ended levels, uncover mysteries, solve puzzles and quests, and help the friendly inhabitants of sunbaked islands, amber forests, magical caves, and the feather theater. The puzzles have no single correct answer, so you can approach them your own way. Boxes you collect can be stacked into stairs and structures to reach places that would otherwise be out of reach, which means the level itself becomes something you build as much as something you navigate.
How a group plays it
The game supports 1 to 4 players in local multiplayer, and players can drop in and out at any time. When someone joins or leaves, the challenge rescales to match, so the group never has to restart to keep playing. Progress depends on communication and organization: split the tasks, sync your moves, and carry each other over obstacles. Teammates can always lend a hand, and there is no punishment for failure, so a mixed-skill group can stay together without anyone being left behind.
When you want a break from the adventure, there are minigames to play against each other: Boxball, Basketball, and Tic Pile Toe. These are the party side of the game, built for chaotic rounds rather than careful puzzle solving.
Before you start
Controls are simple and the pacing is chill, with very little time pressure, which makes it approachable for players who do not usually pick up platformers. If you want a steeper challenge, you can unlock the timer mode and race through the piling, looking for the best path and the quickest way across the world. You can also pick a skin for your Boxling before heading out. Remote Play Together is available, so a friend can join your session from their own setup.
