What Pigeons Attack is
Pigeons Attack is a top-down shooter where the whole point is to stay alive as long as you can against waves of pigeons. The birds come in different classes, each with its own behavior, and there are a lot of them — the game compares it to a park where someone dropped popcorn, then says there are more here than that. You pick up weapons and upgrades that are placed around the level, and you unlock new paths in the map to reach better gear. Coins you collect let you unlock new characters, maps and magic runes. There are three playable characters, each with a special ability and its own way of playing, four maps to survive on, and more than 15 magic runes that give you improvements during a run. The setting is Almerath, a kingdom where the pigeon invasion has already started, and the tone is comedic — the game makes fun of the whole situation rather than playing it straight.
Playing it with friends
You can fight the invasion alone or with friends. Online co-op supports up to four players, and there is a local co-op mode that needs at least one joystick. Online PvP and Remote Play Together are also listed as supported features. The leaderboard and achievements give you something to chase after a run ends. One thing to keep in mind when playing together: explosive weapons will kill you as well as the pigeons, so watch your aim around teammates.
Before you start
Expect a run-based structure — you survive as long as possible, gather coins, and unlock characters, maps and runes for later attempts. The art style is 3D cartoon, and the humor runs through the whole thing, from the enemy design to the story framing. The pigeons are popcorn-addicted, so the levels are built around swarms rather than small encounters. Bring a controller if you plan on local co-op, and be ready to share the screen space with a lot of birds.
