Your own arcade to run around in
Pierhead Arcade drops you into an old pierhead arcade that you've inherited, and you have the run of the place. Tokens are unlimited, so nothing is gated behind a paywall — you can sit at one machine and play it over and over, or wander between machines and try everything. Scores from each machine upload to global leaderboards, so there's a reason to keep chasing a better run even when you're playing alone. It's a VR game built for standing or room-scale play, and it needs an HTC Vive or Oculus Touch. Movement is handled by teleporting to any machine in view, which keeps motion sickness out of the picture. Every game uses 1:1 hand motion, so you throw a ball by actually throwing it rather than pressing a button.
Playing together with friends
You can invite friends into your arcade and play together, with online and LAN multiplayer available. That means your group can share the same space, pick machines, and go at each other on the same games rather than each sitting in a separate lobby. Online play also covers competing on the uploaded scores, so a friend who isn't in the room can still be on the board you're trying to beat. Since tokens are unlimited, nobody runs dry mid-session and has to stop — the group can keep rotating through machines for as long as it wants.
The machines you'll find
The arcade is stocked with classic coin-operated games: Rocket Ball, Basketball, Bowling, Comet Drop, Arctic Shuffle, Super Punch, Binary Dash, Honey Rush, Shooting Gallery, Scarab Toss, Dino Whack, Cannonball Bounce, Rapid Fire, Claw Machine, and Zombie Shootout. Between rounds you can redeem toys at the gift shop with tickets you've won, and there's a built-in internet radio player if you want your own music running while you play.
Before you start
Check your hardware first — this is standing and room-scale VR only, and it requires an HTC Vive or Oculus Touch, so a controller-only setup won't work. The game is in Early Access, so expect things to still be settling. It's also worth clearing some physical space, since the hand-motion controls and teleporting both assume you're moving around rather than sitting still.
