A coin pusher set in Edo-period Japan

Old Coin Pusher Friends 3 is the third entry in an online co-op coin pusher series, and this time the whole thing is wrapped around a Sugoroku board themed on the Tokaido Fifty-Three Stations. You push coins on the machine as usual, but you also collect dice that appear on the board, and the square you land on triggers an event. Alongside the pusher play there are prizes to gather, all themed around the Edo period, and the more prizes you collect the more rewards you get when you reach the goal of the Sugoroku.

Playing together with your group

The game supports up to four players at once, and there are two ways to get a session going: random matchmaking or friend matchmaking. So you can either drop in with strangers for a one-time run or put together a lobby with your own friends. The co-op side is the point of it — the mini-games are shared tasks rather than things you handle alone. You work together to defeat yokai, punish corrupt officials and evil magistrates, and deal with volcanic eruptions. Yokai strength scales with the players' strength, and tougher yokai drop better prizes, so a stronger group gets more out of the fight.

What to know before you start

Progress carries forward through upgrades. There are ability enhancements covering things like Gatling guns, auxiliary launchers, attack power, and firing speed, plus appearance changes for your pieces and launchers, so your avatar and your gear both develop as you play. The Sugoroku movement itself depends on collecting dice off the board, which means the events you trigger are tied to where the dice send you rather than being chosen directly. Expect a mix of pushing coins, moving around the board, and dropping into short cooperative events, with the jackpot as the shared target your group is aiming at.
