A Hollywood insult duel
Oh...Sir! The Hollywood Roast is a verbal combat game from Vile Monarch, a spinoff of Oh...Sir!! The Insult Simulator. You pick one of a cast of pop culture icons who are, for legal purposes, slightly different from the real thing, and you trade burns with other Hollywood types. Battles are built around sentences: you assemble insults from a vocabulary that is more than twice the size of the original game, and you try to land combos, chain continuations, and poke at your rival's weak spots. There is also a comeback mechanic where you charge your anger and close the sentence with a unique finisher, so a good line can end harder than it started.
Playing it with your group
You can play alone, take the fight online against friends and family anywhere, or sit on the same couch for local multiplayer. The game also supports Online PvP and Remote Play Together, so your group can link up and roast each other across the internet or from one screen. On top of the standard battles, there is an expanded career mode where you master each scene to win Golden Parrots and spend them developing your character, plus a Character Creation Mode where you build your own formulaic celebrity clones in a lab.
Before you start
Expect a scoring system that has been redesigned to be fairer and clearer, and a cast of crazy Hollywood characters set against a slew of iconic film backdrops. The developers have said free updates bringing new characters and scenes are on the way. Controller support is included, and the game is tagged 2D and pixel graphics, so the presentation is stylized rather than realistic. The tone is rude by design: this is a roast, the material is meant to sting, and the vocabulary leans ruder than the first game.
