Scavenge the lost colony
Marathon drops you into the lost colony of Tau Ceti IV, a dark sci-fi world filled with rival players, enemy forces, and unpredictable dangers. You scour dangerous locations for valuables, loot, and intel, then fight your way to extraction. Loot you grab off defeated players and enemies only counts if you exfil successfully and fill your vault. Contracts earn rewards and let you upgrade your loadout so you come back stronger on the next run.
Play with your crew or go alone
You can scavenge the maps alone or crew up in groups of two or three. Trust is a resource: form cautious alliances with other players, make a deal with them, or betray their trust for your own gain. Combat mixes PvP and PvE, so rival Runners and enemy forces are both threats on the way to extraction.
Build your Runner before you start
Pick a Runner shell that fits your playstyle, each with its own unique abilities, then upgrade an arsenal of moddable weapons and customizable abilities. Builds range from stealthy infiltrators to frontline bruisers and support specialists. Know that your best loot is on the line when you push ahead for season rewards, and that Ranked mode and Cryo Archive offer tougher challenges for crews chasing top-tier loot.
