What Magic Rampage is
Magic Rampage is a 2D action RPG platformer with a large single-player campaign. You pick a class — Mage, Warrior, Druid, Warlock, Rogue, Paladin, Thief and others — then dress it in armor and pick a weapon, from knives and hammers to magical staves. Weapons and armor can carry magical elements: fire, water, air, earth, light and darkness, so you can shape your build around how you like to play. The campaign sends you through castles, swamps and forests against monsters, giant spiders, dragons, bats, zombies, ghosts and bosses, with the goal of finding out what happened to the King and the fate of the kingdom. Each dungeon brings new obstacles, enemies and secret areas, plus Bonus levels to hunt down.
Playing together
The game has several ways to play with other people. Local Versus Mode needs two gamepads plugged in: you and a friend fight in battle arenas based on the campaign dungeons, grabbing weapons from crates and taking out NPCs while keeping an eye on each other. Online, Competitive Mode drops players into randomly generated dungeons full of obstacles, enemies and bosses, and you can challenge your friends directly; competing raises your ranking and moves you toward the Hall of Fame. Duels are real-time 1v1 PvP where your gear, abilities and reactions decide the outcome, with rankings to climb. Weekly Dungeons rotate every week with time and star challenges across three difficulty levels, and completing one each day earns extra Rank points. The Tavern is the social hub where you meet other players, challenge friends and play minigames between runs.
Before you start
Survival Mode is worth knowing about early: the longer you stay alive in its dungeons, the more gold and weapons you earn, which feeds straight back into equipping your character. The shop's salesman sells gear and rare runes, and runes upgrade all your equipment, so gold has a clear purpose. Expect a difficulty curve — dungeons are described as challenging and boss fights are meant to test you. The game supports joysticks, gamepads and physical keyboard, so pick the input that gives you the most responsive control before you commit to a run.
