Sneaking into school for the answers

Lunch Lady is an online co-op survival horror game for one to four players. Final exams are coming up, so the plan is to break into the school and steal the test answers. Ten pages are scattered around the building, and everything else in the match feeds into finding them: keys open doors that were shut, medkits let you patch up whoever just got hit. The whole thing plays out in first person, in dark hallways, with a possessed Lunch Lady roaming the school looking for you.

The layout changes every run. Pages, keys and medkits spawn in different locations, the Lunch Lady searches different areas, and no two matches follow the same path. You are free to take whichever route through the school seems best rather than following a set line. Difficulty is set per match with Normal, Hard and Insane modes.

Playing together

Up to four friends can join one game, or you can go in alone. Proximity voice chat is built in, so you hear the people near you — including whoever is screaming from the next corridor over while they run. Splitting up finds pages faster, staying together means nobody gets cornered by themselves, and the right balance is yours to call mid-match. Reviving works through medkits, so keeping a spare for a teammate matters as much as using one on yourself.

As the match runs on, the Lunch Lady gets faster and stronger, which tightens the pressure. Her AI is unpredictable, so a spot that felt safe a minute ago can turn bad without warning. Work out where she is, grab what you need and get out.

What to know before you start

Play smart and move with purpose: the clock is always ticking and the danger keeps scaling up. Success comes from covering ground, unlocking what stands in the way and leaving before she catches you — getting whacked with a pan ends the run for you. Experience is earned across matches, and leveling up unlocks new playable characters.

Multiple maps are available, each with its own arrangement of spawn points. Immersive 3D audio is part of how you track what is happening around you, so headphones help. One accessibility note from the developers: the game contains flashing lights that may make it unsuitable for people with photosensitive epilepsy or other photosensitive conditions.
