What Light Bearers is

Light Bearers is a multiplayer asymmetrical hide and seek game where one player becomes the sinister Shadow and everyone else plays as Light Bears. Each round the Shadow tries to infect the Light Bears before time runs out, while the Light Bears try to stay uninfected and reach the Light Pool at the end of the round. If all Light Bears make it to the Light Pool, the Bears win. If the Shadow and his minions infect every Light Bear before the clock expires, the Shadow wins.

How your group plays it

One person in your group gets picked as the Shadow, and the rest run as Light Bears. Getting caught does not end your round: infected Light Bears turn into Shadow Bears and switch sides to help the Shadow hunt down whoever is left. That keeps everyone involved even after they go down, and it means the pressure builds as the round goes on.

All Bears play in first person, which keeps the chases tight and tense. The Shadow usually plays in third person, giving them a wider view of the map and a stronger sense of control over the hunt.

Tools on the map

Both sides have map mechanics built for their role. Shadow Bears can use Shadow teleports to move around the map quickly, while Light Bears have hiding spots scattered across the map to break line of sight and avoid detection.

Each bear type also carries a special ability. Light Bears get a Dash that pulls them out of bad situations when the Shadow closes in. Shadow Bears can create a wall to cut off an escape route and corner their prey.

Before you start

The free version comes with two Shadows unlocked and ready to play. Each Shadow has three abilities built around their own play style, so they open up different mechanics and combos to learn. The Full Game DLC unlocks all available Shadows, plus customization content for your Light Bear.

Expect rounds where your role shifts mid-match. You may start as a Light Bear dodging and hiding, then spend the back half of the round as a Shadow Bear chasing the survivors. Plan for both, and use the map mechanics that match whichever side you land on.
