An original Marvel story in LEGO form
LEGO® Marvel™ Super Heroes is an action adventure built around an original story that runs across the whole Marvel Universe. Iron Man, Spider-Man, the Hulk, Captain America, Wolverine and many more team up to stop Loki and other villains from building a super-weapon that could destroy the world. The chase takes you after Cosmic Bricks through LEGO Manhattan and out to places like Stark Tower, Asteroid M, a Hydra base, the X-Mansion and Asgard. Expect the usual LEGO videogame mix of smashing, swinging and flying, with humor running through the whole thing.
Playing together with friends
The game supports co-op, both local and online, plus Steam Remote Play Together. You swap between more than 100 Super Heroes and Super Villains as you go, and each one brings something different to the group. Iron Man flies, hovers, fires missiles and hits with a chest unibeam. Spider-Man shoots webs, crawls walls, web-slings and uses spider-senses to spot objects nobody else can see. Captain America throws his shield at enemies and objects, can embed it in a wall as a platform, and blocks damage with it. Hulk and Abomination are BIG-fig characters who smash through LEGO walls, throw cars and leave a path of destruction with hyper strength. Split Screen is listed among the tags, so two people can share the screen.
Before you start
The game is a third-person platformer with puzzles mixed in, so expect some sections where you need the right character ability to move on. That is where the roster matters: pick the hero whose strengths fit the obstacle in front of you. You can also create your own Super Heroes with the customizable character options, which is a nice way to fill gaps in your lineup. The tone is comedy and comic book style, aimed at a family friendly crowd, so the story stays light even when the villains do not.
