Two kids, one island, one goose

Knights And Bikes follows Nessa and Demelza, two best friends exploring an ancient island with their pet goose Captain Honkers. You ride and upgrade bikes, hunt for treasure, and push through an old curse that keeps gathering force. The story runs through everything: this is a hand-drawn, story-rich adventure rather than a string of disconnected levels. Along the way you visit tourist attractions, ruins, and out-of-the-way spots where trinkets like broken action figures and animal skulls sit waiting, plus whatever legendary riches the island is rumoured to hold. Expect hazards, puzzles, and enemies mixed into the wandering.

Playing it together

The whole campaign works for one or two players. In single-player you get an AI companion, so the second heroine is always with you. On a shared couch you play local co-op, and online co-op covers remote friends. Remote Play Together is there too, so someone can join from a distance. The point of co-op is that Nessa and Demelza each have different skills, and puzzles are built around combining them. One of you might do something the other can't, so swapping roles and testing what pairs well is most of the problem-solving.

Your toolkit

You fight and solve with improvised gear: frisbees, water balloons, puddle-stomping welly boots, a boom-box loud enough to wake the undead, and a plunger. Not every tool suits every situation, so it pays to try different items against the same obstacle. Money and junk matter as well. You barter with adults by offloading what you collect, which personalises your bikes, unlocks extra abilities, and gets the training wheels removed. Captain Honkers needs feeding and keeping happy; once he is, his sharp nose-beak points you toward what you need.

Worth knowing before you start

Bring a controller-friendly setup if you can, since this is a 2D action-adventure built around couch and online co-op. The tone is bright and playful — high-fives, petting a goose, riding around an island — but the stakes rise as the curse does, and the two leads laugh, learn, and cry through it. Progress leans on exploring thoroughly: treasure, upgrades, and bike parts reward the side roads as much as the main path.
