What Kingdoms Reborn is

Kingdoms Reborn is a city builder where the citizens are actually simulated, and the world map is generated fresh each time. You start with a small medieval hamlet and push it forward through the Dark Age, Middle Age, Enlightenment Age, and Industrial Age. Each era you research into opens up new buildings, bonuses, and upgrades, so growth comes from both expanding your territory and picking which technologies to chase. Your population is the engine behind all of it.

The map is split into biomes: Forest, Jungle, Desert, Savanna, Boreal Forest, and Tundra. Each one hands you a different starting situation with its own problems and advantages, which changes how you plan your early build order. You also pick a culture at the start — Duchies, Emirates, Norsemen, Shogunate, and Tlatoa — and each one brings its own art style and gameplay flavor, so two players on the same map can end up with quite different kingdoms.

Playing with your group

Multiplayer runs in real time, and you get two ways to use it. Compete: everyone builds their own kingdom and you see who comes out with the most advanced one. Cooperate: pool your efforts and build a single shared kingdom together, combining what each of you is good at. Sessions support up to 18 players, so a big Discord group can all be on the same map.

Cards are a core part of how you expand. You draw building cards, action cards, policy cards, and bonus cards, and each draw gives you a completely new set of choices to work with. That means no two games hand you the same options, and adapting your plan to the cards you get is half the strategy.

Before you start

The game is in Early Access and still in active development. It gets patched and optimized regularly, and saved games may break when new patches land, so treat long-running saves as disposable for now. Also worth knowing: the soundtrack is by Alistair Lindsay, who also composed for RimWorld and Prison Architect.
