A city builder across shattered isles
Pioneers of Pagonia is a medieval-fantasy simulation and strategy game. The world broke apart into countless islands and was swallowed by fog, and you lead a band of Pioneers to rebuild communities, reconnect tribes and uncover what happened. The story campaign puts you in the role of a navigator searching for the Tower of Visions, moving island by island, meeting factions, finding artifacts and confronting the Hollowed, bosses that seem born from the fog itself.
Economy is the core of the game. You work with more than 60 building types and over 100 commodities, and the whole production chain is visible on the map: a forester feeds a sawmill, the timber ends up with a weaponsmith, and goods move along roads to where they are needed. Logistics are dynamic, so roads, transport routes and bottlenecks matter. The simulation runs up to 3000 Pagonians working, trading and living at once, with no simplified or abstracted economy behind the scenes.
Islands are procedurally generated, giving each map different landscapes, tribes and objectives. Not every neighbour is friendly: bandits, Scavs and mythical beings threaten your settlement, and you fight tactically with your troops while using your economy to keep defenses stocked. Artifacts found in the fog can shift the balance of the world.
Playing it together as a group
Shared co-op runs for up to 4 players in one settlement. Everyone works on the same faction with shared responsibility, so any player can trade, place buildings or manage resources at the same time as the others. That makes it a good fit for a group that wants to plan and build together rather than split into competing factions.
Because the co-op save is a multiplayer save, you can switch between single player and multiplayer seamlessly. One friend can lay the groundwork alone, the rest join later and pick up where things stand, then hand the save back.
If your group likes making things, the integrated Pagonia Editor lets you build your own islands, adventures and challenges and share them with the community.
What to know before starting
The story campaign follows one continuous journey across many islands with unique missions and story characters, so expect to be led through it rather than dropped on a blank map. Procedural islands give extra replay value once the campaign is done.
Combat is present but secondary. Your strength comes from strategy and preparation — a strong economy and well-planned defenses — not from out-fighting everything in your path. Keep that in mind when the first bandits or Scavs show up.
Plan your roads early. With a real logistics simulation, a production chain that works on paper can still stall if goods cannot reach their destination, and the bottlenecks are yours to solve.
