A medieval rebellion you build from scratch

Bellwright puts you in the boots of someone framed for the murder of the Prince and sentenced to death by the Crown. After an attempt on your life, you find the assassin's contract and head back to the place you fled, looking for answers about the frame-up and your family's secrets. From there you grow a rebellion against the Sovereign, liberating regions and uncovering what really happened. It's an open world played in third person, mixing survival, building, roleplay and combat in one run rather than splitting them into separate modes.

Growing a settlement into a rebellion

You start with a small camp and work up to leading towns. Gathering, hunting, crafting and resource management keep the place running, and your recruits feed both the economy and the war effort. Each recruit brings their own knowledge, so who you bring in changes what you can make, from better arrows to advanced buildings. Workers can be organized and trained up into master craftsmen, while soldiers are equipped and trained to your liking. Improving relations with settlements and freeing villages from the Crown's influence strengthens your cause and opens up new resources and technologies for your towns.

Fighting and commanding in the field

Combat is skill-based and directional, so your stance and swing direction matter more than button mashing. The arsenal covers swords, axes, heavy mauls, polearms and bows, letting you settle on a style and refine it. Beyond your own fighting, you lead armies into battle: squads and formations take orders from you, and tactics on the field decide the outcome. Your troops fight the way you equip and train them, so preparation before the engagement counts as much as what you do during it.

Before you start

Bellwright is in Early Access, which means the game is still being developed and things can change as you play. It supports online co-op, so a group can share the work of building, managing and fighting rather than splitting it up. Expect a long arc: survival and town management feed into the campaign against the Crown, and the story of your family and the Prince's death unfolds as your influence spreads across the kingdom.
