A grid where your paths are their walls
INVERSUS Deluxe is a top-down arcade shooter played on a black and white grid. Your team can only move through tiles of its own color, so the open space for you is solid wall for your opponent, and the reverse is always true. Every shot flips the tiles it touches, which means the board keeps changing as you play. Blocking, trapping and closing off routes is as important as landing hits. The result is a constant tug of war over space rather than a straight firefight.
Playing together
VERSUS mode supports 1v1 and 2v2 battles across thirty-nine maps, online or on the couch. Ranked online play is available, and private online lobbies let you set your own rules. If you are waiting for an online match, the full single-player and local experience stays open so nobody sits idle. ARCADE mode takes one or two players through eleven stages of survival against enemy swarms, with chain attacks feeding your score onto the global leaderboards. Five tiers of AI bots are there for practice when you want to learn a map before facing real opponents.
Before you start
The game runs from 1 to 4 players, and it supports DualShock 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One controllers and keyboard. Expect the board to shift every round, so a route that worked last game may be a wall this time. Color palettes, emotes and motion trails unlock as you play, letting you mark your side of the grid.
