A post-apocalyptic brawler that resets every run
Infected Shelter is a 2D side-scrolling beat'em up set in a world overrun by infected creatures. You play as a member of a surviving group whose shelter is raided and whose people are kidnapped. You head out into the infected land to find the kidnappers and the truth behind the attack. Your path takes you through randomly generated areas controlled by different enemy factions with brutal leaders, plus shelters filled with infected. Combat is fast, violent, and complex, mixing firearms with melee weapons, and it includes more than 50 brutal executions. The game is tagged as difficult, so expect a real challenge rather than a casual stroll.
Playing together with your group
The game supports singleplayer and co-op for up to four players, with local co-op available. It also carries the Remote Play Together feature, which is worth knowing about if your group plays across different setups. Four different playable characters are available, so a full group can each pick someone distinct. Since the environments are randomly generated, every session throws your group into a different layout of areas and shelter rooms, keeping the run fresh even if you have played before.
What carries over between runs
This is a rogue-lite, so the loop is play, learn, die, unlock, improve, repeat. Loot from a run does not just make you stronger for that run alone. Instead, you collect more than 170 blueprints that unlock permanent improvements: new weapons, clothes, skills, relics, and RPG-like character upgrades that change how you play the following runs. Along the way you can find 50+ character traits, plus guitars, wheelchairs, pets, drinks, and active items. The world includes 200+ areas and shelter rooms, all randomly generated. Before starting, know that progress comes from dying and unlocking, so early runs are meant to be tough while you build up your permanent options.
