A first-person foiling simulator
Hydrofoil Generation puts you in the cockpit of modern sailboats that lift out of the water and fly on hydrofoils. You handle the course, the sail trim and the ride height of the foils. Keeping the boat high gives you more speed, but push too far and you splash back down or capsize. Wind, sea state and currents all change as you race, so every leg asks for constant adjustment. The boats reach speeds over 50kn, and the official SailGP F50 catamarans get close to 100 km/h.
Racing against other players
The core of the game is multiplayer in-shore regattas with up to 10 opponents. Everyone races the same course in first person, so the fight is about reading the wind and keeping the boat flying rather than about weapons or power-ups. The official Global Racing League SailGP content brings the F50 catamaran and its liveries into these races. Locations include Chicago, Den Haag, Hong Kong and Bermuda, each with recreated coastlines that shape the wind and water you deal with.
Boats and what to expect
Three vessels are available. The Jx50 is a 50ft foiling catamaran that reaches up to 50kn. The Jx40 is a 40ft foiling monohull with automatic ride-height control, which takes one variable off your plate while you focus on trim. The F50 is the one-design SailGP catamaran. The game is a demanding simulation rather than an arcade racer, and it is in Early Access, so expect the experience to keep developing.
