What Assetto Corsa Competizione is
Assetto Corsa Competizione is the official GT World Challenge game, built around GT3 racing. It aims to reproduce the real championship with official drivers, teams, cars and circuits. You drive Ferraris, Lamborghinis, McLarens and other GT cars, and the car models are detailed down to the cockpit controls. The simulation models tyre grip, aerodynamics, engine parameters, suspensions and electronics, and mechanical damage affects how the car drives. Circuits are built with laser scanning, so curbs and track details match their real counterparts. Weather, night races and audio are handled with Unreal Engine 4 and multi-channel sampling of real GT cars.
Playing together as a group
Online multiplayer is where your group meets. Matchmaking pairs you with drivers of similar skill, and a ranking system scores individual performance and driving behaviour to keep races fair. Sprint, Endurance and the Spa 24 Hours can be run in multiplayer, so you can pick a short race or a long one depending on how much time the group has. Leaderboards let you compare single-lap times with other drivers using the same car, circuit and weather conditions, which gives you something to chase between races. Single-player modes cover Career, Championship and Free Play, with tutorials and adjustable aid levels if someone in the group is new to sim racing.
Before you start
This is a simulation, not an arcade racer, so expect a learning curve. The car's ABS, traction control, engine ignition and ECU mapping are yours to manage, and the difficulty tags reflect that. Peripherals range from gamepads to professional steering wheels, and VR and first-person views are supported, so check what your group has before settling on a setup. Motion capture covers driver and mechanic animations, including pit stops and driver changes, which matters if you plan to run endurance races together.
