What Horror Legends is
Horror Legends is an asymmetrical player versus player survival horror game from October Games. One player each round takes the role of a Legend, a powerful supernatural killer, while the rest play as members of the cast trying to survive. Matches support 2 to 6 players and run on handcrafted maps: vandalized farmhouses, corridors of wrenched cars, dark forests, and more. The tone is comic book horror with zombie pumpkins, punk rockers, chainsaws, and killer dolls. Play is third person, and the loop mixes foraging, hunting objectives, and frantic hack and slash combat that builds into chases and brutal confrontations.
Playing it with your group
Everyone in your group can jump into the same round, but you will not all be on the same side. One of you becomes the Legend and hunts the others; the rest cooperate as the cast to gather supplies, work objectives, or scavenge weapons to make a stand. There is never only one way to win, so your group can argue over whether to run or fight. If you cannot fill a lobby, bot support covers both solo and multiplayer modes. A demo is available that is fully compatible with the full version, giving your group access to one cast member (Rick Manning) and one Legend (Punkie) on all the maps, so you can try a session together before committing.
Choosing your side
Cast members each have unique attributes and possible loadouts, and the pick changes how you approach a match: Stevie Lint is slippery, Kimmy Green is crafty, and Nick Scab is sturdy. Legends work differently from each other in ways that define the whole round. Some have deep health pools that punish anyone who fights head-on, some rise from the dead until the cast completes objectives unique to that Legend, and some turn victims into allies. Every Legend can execute the cast with brutal finishing moves. Maps also shift properties between rounds, so the same location plays differently each time.
Progression and things to know
Matches award Fate points, which you spend on cast member loadouts, skins, extras, and a 16 page comic book. Expect a tense cat and mouse structure rather than a level-based campaign: you are either the hunter or the hunted, and the round ends when someone escapes or dies. The game is online PvP, so a group needs enough people to fill the lobby or bots to stand in.
