A frog, a lily pad, and a lot of bugs

Frog Fractions puts you on a lily pad with fruit to defend. Insects come at you in waves, and you swat them out of the air with your frog's tongue. The setup borrows from Missile Command: threats keep arriving, and you pick them off before they reach what you're protecting. Between waves you spend what you've earned on upgrades, and the list runs from practical to absurd — lock-on targeting, a cybernetic brain, a flying dragon. This is the remaster of the classic web game, running at 4k resolution.

Playing together

The Steam features list includes Remote Play Together, so someone who owns the game can bring friends along into the session. Beyond that, the tags describe Frog Fractions as a singleplayer game, so the core experience is one person at the controls while others watch the run unfold. It works as a group pick when one friend drives and the rest react to what the game throws at them — the bullet-hell swarms and the stranger turns the upgrades take tend to give everyone something to comment on.

Before you start

The tags cover a wide range: funny, surreal, comedy, memes, story rich, alongside gore, violent, and survival horror. Expect the tone to shift as you go rather than stay a straightforward arcade game. There's also typing and education in the tag list, so the game isn't only about dodging and shooting.

The hat DLC is optional and separate. It lets you eat bugs while wearing a hat, and the store text notes the hat is not recommended for first-time players — go without it on your first run.
