What FlowState is

FlowState is an FPV drone racing simulator built to feel like flying a real racing drone. The picture deliberately mimics what a pilot sees through the goggles, static and interference included, rather than going for clean, cinematic visuals. Flight feel comes first: input latency is kept as low as realistically possible, and lap times are meant to land close to each other across different pilots, setups and tracks. The sim is open source, and contributors are invited to find the project on github.

How a group plays it together

Online PvP is supported, so you and your friends can race against each other on the same tracks. Because lap times are meant to be comparable between pilots and setups, you can compare runs without worrying that someone's hardware is handing them an easy win. The sim is designed so it does not give a significant advantage to players with high-end gaming rigs, and the "sim quads" could be flown against real quads and still produce fair competition. That makes it usable as a shared practice tool: everyone can put in laps, then line up and race.

What to know before starting

FlowState is in Early Access, so expect things to still be moving. It is free to play. The sim works with or without an internet connection, and it is meant to run on recent lower-end laptops as well as stronger machines. Maps are editable and use commonly used track elements, so you can shape courses to suit your group. If you want to dig in further or help build it, the project is open source on github.
