A Wild West shooter built on slow, heavy guns
Fistful of Frags is a first-person shooter set in the Wild West, built around the tension between non-stop action and slow but powerful weaponry. It began years ago as a Source engine modification and was completely renewed for its Steam release, with special attention paid to combat mechanics. The arsenal is drawn from historical black powder arms, including the Colt Peacemaker, Navy and Walker, the S&W Schofield, the Volcanic pistol, the Deringer, the Smith Carbine, the Sharps rifle and the Henry Rifle. Scoring rewards skill: the more skill an attack requires, the higher the score. You can pick primary and secondary weapons and special perks, and the dual wield system gives you a double dynamic crosshair, weapon flips for extra accuracy, and the option to drop or throw your handguns as a projectile attack.
Playing together as a group
Your group has several ways to play against or alongside each other. Shootout is a classic free-for-all deathmatch, and there is also team deathmatch for up to 4 teams. Teamplay is objective based, featuring zone capture and push the cart levels. Cooperative mode supports up to 6 players across missions such as bank assault, last stand and push. Grand Elimination is a fast paced battle royale style mode, Break Bad is a team deathmatch with custom rules such as unarmed players, Team Elimination requires wiping the enemy team at least once to win a round, and Versus sets up 1 vs 1 duel matches with fair match creation based on player rank and skill. Shootout free-for-all supports ladder based global ranks.
Before you start
Some weapons and perks may be locked for Steam accounts at level 0 until they reach level 1 or complete a play-to-earn-points progression system. The game is a completely free standalone mod with no micro-transactions and no registration required, though you may see ads when joining certain third party servers that host the game, which are unrelated to the development team. Multiplayer bots are available for offline practice, and singleplayer challenges and missions let you learn the game alone and master the skills at your own pace. The game runs on Source Engine 2013 with community managed dedicated servers, LAN support, and third party level design and user customization allowed.
