A quiet start at community college
First Snow follows Allison Merlo, a freshman who has just moved away from friends and family to attend community college. Grades come easily to her, but living on her own and being surrounded by strangers leaves her feeling lonely. Her quiet personality makes it hard to reach out, so she keeps to herself until she ends up in a group of eccentric writers and artists. Her attention turns to Eileen Turner, a cold and brusque painter who has claimed an old, seldom-used art room on campus for herself. The story covers Allison and Eileen's first months at school in the leadup to Christmas, along with the people around them. It is a prequel spinoff of the visual novel Twofold, written by Suriko, a writer of Katawa Shoujo.
Playing it as a group
First Snow is a singleplayer visual novel, so one person drives the story while the rest of the group watches along. Remote Play Together lets the group share the session so everyone can follow the same run. Choices matter, so the group can talk through each decision and see where the story goes from there. The game includes partial voice acting, with fully voiced CGs and partially voiced sprite dialogue, which makes it easy to follow even when someone else is at the controls.
What to know before starting
The game uses a papercraft style across the character sprites and the custom UI, and it ships with an original soundtrack. An extras gallery collects CGs along with guest art from other artists. The cast includes Allison, Eileen, Rose, Caprice, Millie, Hayley, Wallace, Eve, Andrew, Elizabeth. The story is a girls' love romance, and the store listing tags the game with Nudity, Hentai, and Sexual Content, so it is meant for a mature audience.
