Fate/EXTELLA LINK is a fast hack-and-slash action game set in SE.RA.PH, a virtual world running inside a lunar supercomputer that sits above a ruined Earth. In this refuge, Servants — digital recreations of famous figures from history and legend — fight rogue programs and each other to decide what kind of peace they will enforce. A new threat arrives to wage apocalyptic war, and the young knight Charlemagne leads the stand against it. Alongside him you get companions like the paladin Astolfo, Emperor Nero, the fox spirit Tamamo no Mae, and the rogue Robin Hood. The roster holds 26 Heroic Spirits in total, including 10 from across the Fate universe.

How it plays

Combat is built around chaining quick and heavy attacks into combos, with team mechanics that let you devastate opponents together. Battles take place on shifting battlefields where the winning conditions can change mid-fight, so you have to keep adapting rather than grinding one objective. Dozens of extra missions fill out the maps, ranging from rescue operations to all-out assaults. The perspective is third person, and the game carries a story-rich campaign with visual novel style sequences between the fighting.

Playing with friends

Online PvP is the group option here: 4-on-4 matches against up to 7 other players, where you take on Masters from around the world. Pick your Servant, coordinate with your side, and use the team mechanics to break the opposing lineup. The rest of the game, including the campaign and the extra missions, plays on your own.

Before you start

Expect a lot of anime-flavored content: character customization, story segments, and material flagged as sexual content and nudity. The tone mixes high-speed action with JRPG and visual novel elements, so sessions alternate between long stretches of reading and intense combat. If your group wants something everyone can jump into together, the 4-on-4 mode is the shared entry point; the campaign is a solo ride through the Fate/EXTRA saga.
