What DYNASTY WARRIORS 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition is

This is a hack and slash action game built around the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. You take control of a mighty warrior and cut through swarms of enemies on large battlefields, moving from clash to clash until the fight is won. Story mode walks you through the vivid tales of the era, and this Xtreme Legends version adds Lu Bu as a playable character, with a journey that follows his way of life. Alongside that you get new hypothetical scenarios attached to existing battles, new playable characters, new weapon types, plus growth and speedrun elements to work through. Ambition Mode has been revamped and a completely new Challenge Mode sits alongside it, so there is more to do beyond the main story.

Playing it together

The game carries local co-op and multiplayer tags, and Steam lists Remote Play Together, which lets friends join in over a connection rather than sitting at the same machine. That fits the core loop well: two warriors on the same field, each carving through their own section of the enemy crowd while the battle objectives stay shared. Pick your characters, split the pressure across the map, and push the front line together. Co-op and multiplayer are tagged features, so check the in-game options once you launch to see which of them apply to the mode you want to run.

Before you start

Text in the game can be set to English, French, German, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, or Japanese. The display language is chosen from the Properties entry in your game library, under the LANGUAGE tab. For German or French, select ENGLISH there and then pick your language inside the configuration tool launched from Configuration, if a language item exists in it. Save data is split into three groups: English, French and German share one; Traditional and Simplified Chinese share another; Japanese has its own. Switching between those groups means your progress does not carry over, so settle on a language before you invest time in a run.
