Running an evil dungeon

You play as the Dungeon Lord, who has united the forces of evil and now wants to expand his dark empire. The game splits between two sides of that conquest. Underground, you dig out and shape a dungeon from a large selection of rooms, traps and structures, then fill it with despicable creatures such as orcs, succubae and zombies. Above ground, the fully reworked RTS mode takes over: once your forces are built, you lead them out of the darkness to corrupt the land and crush anything heroic or unicorn-shaped. The dark elf priestess Thalya serves as your chief lieutenant on the front line, so you direct the campaign of conquest from your lair while she carries it out.

Playing the co-op campaign together

Dungeons 3 includes a co-op mode built for two players, alongside the single player campaign. The campaign itself runs to 20 missions with more than 20 hours of playtime, and it also features randomly generated levels, so sessions do not play out the same way twice. The narrator returns with his unmistakable voice, commenting on your progress as you go.

Before you start

Expect the game to shift between dungeon management and real-time tactics, so you will be building and economy-managing one moment and commanding armies in the overworld the next. The tone is dark fantasy played for comedy and dark humour, with a villain protagonist rather than a heroic one. It is a real-time strategy game at heart, tagged with RTS, management and base building, so there is a fair amount to keep track of across both the dungeon and the surface.
