A fast 3v3 anime fighter
DRAGON BALL FighterZ is a fast-paced fighting game from Arc System Works, built around the endless spectacular fights of the DRAGON BALL series. The core setup is 3vs3 tag/support: you build a team of three fighters and switch between them mid-fight to chain high-speed tag combinations. The game aims for gameplay that is easy to learn but difficult to master, so you can pick it up quickly while still having a lot to work on. Visually it uses the Unreal engine for high-end anime graphics, with aerial combos, destructible stages, and famous scenes from the DRAGON BALL anime running at 60FPS and 1080p resolution.
Playing together with friends
The main way to play together is online PvP. Ranked matches are there if you want competitive play, and the interactive lobby gives you a shared space to meet up. For something more casual and chaotic, there is a 6-player Party Match. Remote Play Together is also supported, which lets friends join in over a stream. Between the 3vs3 team format, the lobby, and Party Match, there are different ways to group up depending on whether you want serious matches or something looser.
Before you start
There is a Story Mode with an exclusive scenario featuring Android 21, a brand new character whose creation was supervised by Akira Toriyama. Expect a learning curve: the game is tagged as difficult, and the tag system means you are managing three characters rather than one, so there is more to keep track of during a match. A controller is listed among the tags, which is worth knowing if you plan to play on keyboard. Different editions bundle different content, including the FighterZ Pass, FighterZ Pass 2, FighterZ Pass 3, Android 21 (Lab Coat), Android 21 Unlock, Commentator Voice Packs 1-4, and various stamps and lobby avatars, so check which one you are getting if extra characters and extras matter to you.
