What the game is

Disney•Pixar Cars puts you behind the wheel of Lightning McQueen, a rookie racecar chasing fame and fortune at the Piston Cup Championship. It's a racing adventure built from the film, with more than 30 races and mini-games spread across open environments you can drive around freely. Ten characters from the movie are playable, so you're not locked into McQueen for the whole run. The game carries the movie's voice talent along with it, including Larry the Cable Guy delivering moral lessons and Cheech Marin adding comic relief as you drive.

Playing it together

The game lists Remote Play Together as a supported feature, which lets friends join in over a connection rather than needing everyone to own a copy. That's the route to take if you want to run through the races and mini-games as a group. The open environments give you room to drive around between events, and the mix of races and mini-games means sessions can shift from competition to something looser whenever the group feels like it. With ten playable characters, there's a decent spread to pick from when you're deciding who drives what.

Before you start

This is a story-driven adventure tied to the Piston Cup Championship, so expect the campaign to lead you through the events rather than dropping you into a pure race list. The open world means there's driving to do outside of structured races, and the mini-games break up the schedule. It's tagged as family friendly and singleplayer alongside its multiplayer support, so it works both as a solo run through the story and as a shared session with friends. Set aside time for the full stretch of races if you want to see McQueen's championship push through to the end.
