Holding the base until dawn
Defender Bros is a top-down tower defense roguelike where you play a Soldier of the Data Administration Corps, keeping a Base alive while it gathers data on alien planets. Each run splits into two rhythms: during the day you scavenge the map, kill the giant man-eating insects, collect loot, and spend Scrap on defenses, then you survive the night until dawn. Drop boxes arrive every morning with Scrap, Ammo, and Medkits, so a bad night still leaves you something to rebuild with.
Your defenses are built from what you find: Barricades, Turrets, Flamethrower Turrets, Missile Turrets, and Mechs you can either pilot yourself or leave as a bodyguard. Exploring beyond the walls is part of the job, since the loot and the kills that level you up are out there among the bugs.
Growing stronger across runs
Every level up offers a choice of randomized abilities, ranging from flaming bullets to full Invulnerability, so each run shapes a different soldier. When a run ends badly, you still come away with gold, which buys permanent upgrades to your in-game stats. Those take effect the next time you start a match, and they are what carry you deeper into harder swarms over time. Character customization covers your model, skin color, and building color, so your soldier and your fortress look like yours.
Playing with friends
You can bring up to 3 friends along to explore, build, and survive together, with Online Co-op and Remote Play Together supported. Coordinating matters here: someone scavenges for Scrap while others hold the walls, and the group decides together where the turrets and barricades go before night falls. If you end up playing alone, the game hands you a Canine Unit as a personal bodyguard.
Before you start
Expect a loop of dying, banking gold, and returning stronger rather than a single clean victory. The game is in Early Access, tagged with gore and PvE, and the enemies are swarms of gigantic insects on alien planets. Bring a group if you can, since splitting the scavenging and the defending across several players makes the nights far more manageable.
