What the game is
D&D Lords of Waterdeep is a turn-based strategy board game set in Waterdeep, the City of Splendors. You play as one of the masked Lords who secretly run the city through back-room deals and political power. The goal is to complete quests to gain control and influence over Waterdeep. The game is played over 8 rounds, and the player with the most points when those rounds are over wins.
How a group plays together
You can play against AI opponents or with up to 5 human players online. On your turn, you assign an agent to carry out an action, such as recruiting adventurers to your tavern or purchasing a new building for the city. You complete quests using the adventurers you recruit, which earns points and resources. You can also play Intrigue cards to help yourself or to hinder the other Lords. Building new structures in the city opens up new opportunities, and you earn points when other players use the buildings you have constructed. Online play can be asynchronous, so you and your group can take your turns whenever it suits you, or you can play in real time. You can invite Playdek friends to matches and choose from selectable online game clocks.
