What Crashday Redline Edition is

Crashday: Redline Edition is an arcade racer built around speed, destruction and weapons. You drive 12 vehicles, from urban street rides and heavy off-roaders to high-speed sports cars, across 36 tracks, 10 of which were added for this edition. Cars deform in real time as they take damage, and you can fight back with missiles and mini-gun firepower. Pick-ups sit on the tracks and give you ammo refills, instant repairs and more. Tuning kits and parts let you upgrade your rides, with full customization for multiplayer car setups. The game runs seven modes: Race, Wrecking Match, Stunt Show, Hold The Flag, Pass The Bomb, Bomb Run and Test Drive, plus six highscore mini game challenges. A career mode puts you in the Crashday underground league, where you unlock cars and tuning parts as you progress.

Playing together

Online matches support up to 8 players, either head-to-head or in teams. Lobbies run through Steam, with avatar images and voice chat built in. The modes give groups different ways to compete: Wrecking Match is an arena deathmatch, Hold The Flag has you steal a large smiley from enemies and carry it through checkpoints, Pass The Bomb puts an armed timer on your car until you shove it onto someone else, and Bomb Run keeps raising the minimum speed you must hold or the bomb in your car goes off. Stunt Show scores you for jumps, rolls and other showy driving. Modded content works in online play, so a group can share cars, tracks and mods from Steam Workshop and still play together. The integrated track editor gives you over 150 building blocks, including ramps, corkscrews and off-road terrain, to build and share circuits.

Before you start

The game is an arcade experience, not a simulation, so expect loose handling, weapons in races if you want them, and cars that crumple on contact. Single events let you set up matches against AI on your own terms, and Test Drive lets you roam a track with no limits. Refreshed lighting, reworked textures and a new HUD sit on top of the original 2006 design, and the original soundtrack plays throughout, including tracks from Pencilcase, Lowbuz and Peter Struck. The Crashday SDK is available if you want to make your own mods rather than just download them.
