Shapeshifting at the heart of the fight
Coridden is a top-down hack n' slash action RPG where you play as one of four siblings, each with a distinct personality that opens up different sidequests and conversation choices. Your character is both human and monster: you switch freely between human form and one of several fully developed beast forms during combat and while moving through the world. Each monster form brings its own skill tree, abilities and fighting style, so the same fight can play out very differently depending on what you shift into. Beasts are not only for fighting — their forms also let you travel faster and get past obstacles in the environment.
Combat rewards timing and movement. You attack, dodge, jump, shapeshift and spend abilities against aggressive beasts, bandits and machines, and both your skill as a player and the gear you carry matter. Progression runs on two tracks: you build up your human side and your monster side at the same time, adding gear, attributes and active and passive skills as you level. You pick from 4 human classes and can train one or more of the 7 beast masteries. New equipment and DNA-strands turn up while you explore, and transformations can be upgraded with elemental attacks and skill trees.
Playing it together
Coridden works solo or in co-op for up to four players, with drop in/drop out sessions both locally/offline and online. Playing together unlocks a team mechanic: players can ride on each other's back and form a cavalry unit, which is a strong way to handle tougher encounters. Group composition gets interesting because each person chooses their own sibling, human class and beast masteries, so a party can spread out its elemental attacks and skill coverage rather than everyone doing the same thing.
The world of Heera is open enough to wander between your main mission and whatever else turns up. Alongside the main goal of uncovering the dark secrets sealed inside a legendary city, you can explore the open areas for hidden treasures and side quests, with the landscape offering battles, secrets and encounters along the way. Co-op makes that exploration a shared detour rather than a rushed checklist.
Before you start
Know that this is an old-school action RPG with a heavy emphasis on reacting in the moment: expect to be learning enemy patterns, dodging at the right beat and deciding which form fits the situation rather than standing still and trading hits. Plan for two parallel build paths, since your human skills and your beast masteries both grow and both need attention. Taking more than one beast mastery is allowed, so you can decide early whether to specialize or stay flexible.
It is a PvE game — the threats are the world's creatures, bandits and machines, not other players. Pick your sibling with co-op in mind if you expect friends to join, since their personality shapes the sidequests and dialogue choices you will see.
