What Combots is
Combots is a multiplayer robot war shooter built around arena combat. You pilot one of 5 unique robots, each one playing differently enough that switching between them changes how a match feels. The maps are fully procedurally generated, so the arena layout you fight in one round will not be the one you get next. Four procedurally generated maps are in the game, and the physical environment matters: terrain and structures are part of the fight, not just scenery. The look is colorful and the whole thing sits in a sci-fi setting where robots shoot each other.
Playing together as a group
Combots is built for online PvP, so you and your friends queue up and end up on opposing sides or together, depending on the match. Six game modes are included to keep rounds from running together — each mode changes the objective and how you approach the arena. Since every match generates a new map, a group that plays several rounds in a row keeps getting fresh ground to learn, which levels things out: nobody memorizes a favorite spawn or sightline and camps it forever.
Customizing your robot
Loadout planning is a big part of the game. There are 22 items for your loadout, which gives plenty of room to build different robot setups rather than settling on one configuration. On top of that, 43 cosmetic items let each player decorate their robot in their own way, so you can tell your machine apart from everyone else's in a fight. Class-based play means the robot you pick shapes your role, so a group benefits from covering different classes instead of everyone running the same build.
Before you start
Combots is in Early Access. That means the game is playable and being worked on, and things like maps, items, and modes may still shift as development continues. Expect the arena shooter pace: fast matches, shooting-focused combat, and physics playing into how the environment behaves. Pick a robot, throw together a loadout from the 22 items, dress it up, and get into the queue — the new map will be waiting.
