A top-down western shooter with roguelike runs
Colt Canyon is a 2D pixel art shooter where you play a cowboy, or one of many unlockable characters, fighting through a hostile canyon to rescue your kidnapped partner. Combat is real-time and fast-paced: you use a revolver, TNT, and over 100 different weapons against bandits, obstacles, and bosses. The levels are randomized but persistent, so each run presents a new layout of hidden treasures and threats. You can also ride horses, take a stealthy approach, or go in with fast action. The game includes an optional permadeath mode, and you can save and continue at any time, or adjust the difficulty to fit your playstyle.
Playing together in the canyon
Colt Canyon supports local co-op, so you and a friend can play through the canyon side by side. There are also AI companions available if you want backup on a run. The game supports Remote Play Together, which lets friends join over a connection as well. Whether you are coordinating a stealthy approach or both guns blazing, the shared goal is to fight through the canyon, rescue the partner, and make it back home.
What to know before you start
This is a skill-based roguelike that is easy to learn but hard to master, with deep mechanics to discover over many runs. Expect randomized levels, boss fights, and a loop designed to keep your runs going. There are tons of characters, upgrades, and starting loadouts to unlock, plus many viable strategies to try out. The game works with both keyboard and mouse and controllers, and supports various screen resolutions and frame rates. It is a single-developer project with a strong emphasis on minimalistic pixel art and particle effects.
