A revived 1996 sci-fi shooter

Classic Marathon Infinity is a first-person shooter originally made by Bungie in 1996, now maintained by the fan community and running on the Aleph One engine. The game uses the original data files, so the gameplay stays authentic, while optional settings let you adjust things like widescreen HUD support, 3D filtering and perspective, positional audio, and interpolation above 60 fps if the raw original look is too much.

Playing the campaign with friends

The main scenario is called "Blood Tides of Lh'owon," a 20-level campaign built for solo or co-op play. It brings new textures, weapons, and enemies to the Marathon universe. The story picks up after the Pfhor have been defeated and the ancient remnants of the S'pht have been reawakened, putting you in a situation where friends turn into enemies and things are not what they seem. Alongside co-op, the game also supports online PvP.

What to know before starting

This is a linear PvE shooter with a heavy focus on its story, set in a futuristic space setting filled with aliens. Expect classic boomer shooter movement and combat rather than modern mechanics. The Aleph One engine is released under the GNU General Public License (GPL) Version 3.
