What Chessplosion is
Chessplosion is a top-down arcade action puzzle game built around chess piece bombs. You drop pieces, they explode, and the explosions chain into each other to trap enemies and clear the board. The movement rules of chess drive the action: charging Rooks, Bishops that fire diagonal projectiles, Knights that stomp, and Queens whose explosions come in dense bullet-hell patterns.
There is a lot to work through solo. Adventure Mode has over 90 stages and 8 bosses built around chess movement patterns. Dungeon Mode gives you randomized runs where you defeat enemies, collect money, pick up upgrades and weapons, and hunt for the Grandblaster Crown, so no two runs play the same. Puzzle Mode has over 100 target-breaking puzzles where you only get a limited number of bombs and need to plan the chain reaction. Survival Mode throws over 10 stages of explosion patterns at you, starting simple and escalating into real-time chess puzzle solving under pressure. A Puzzle Editor lets you build your own puzzles and share them.
Playing together
Battle Mode is the group option. You go head to head against the AI or against other players, online or local, for up to 4 players across 20 arenas. Free For All and Team Battles cover the standard formats, and Tennis Battle changes the shape of the match: you throw bombs over the center line to build patterns the other side has to dodge. The Steam listing also notes Online PvP and Remote Play Together.
Before you start
Assist Mode is worth knowing about early. It lets you adjust health, lives, and game speed, and skip stages that are blocking your progress, so a hard stretch does not have to end the run. The tags include Roguelike, Roguelite, and Dungeon Crawler, which matters if you expect runs to reset your progress rather than carry over. Expect a colorful pixel look and dense screen-filling explosions once the chains get going.
