What's in the package

Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles Edition gives you the full base game plus the Zombies Chronicles content expansion. The base game runs on three separate modes: Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies. Zombies Chronicles adds eight remastered classic Zombies maps taken from Call of Duty: World at War, Call of Duty: Black Ops, and Call of Duty: Black Ops II, all rebuilt and playable in HD inside Black Ops III. The Zombies storyline picks up where Origins left off, with Dempsey, Nikolai, Richtofen, and Takeo returning.

Playing it with friends

Zombies is the natural pick for a group session — it's a co-op mode where you hold out together against waves of the undead on the same map. Multiplayer covers competitive play against other teams, and there's Shared/Split Screen if people are sitting in the same room. Steam Workshop content can be loaded through the Mods menu in-game without installing the mod tools. Server settings for Multiplayer custom games and Zombies private games let you decide how your server shows up in the unranked server browser. Steam Achievements, leaderboards, and trading cards carry over across play sessions, and Remote Play Together lets someone join from a phone, tablet, or TV.

Before you start

The mod tools are an open beta for full version owners, found under the Tool section of the Steam Library as Call of Duty: Black Ops III - Mod Tools. They include the Radiant level editor, the Asset Property Editor, and example content from the multiplayer map Combine and the Zombies map The Giant. Downloading the mod tools is not required to play Steam Workshop content or to use the in-game mods menu. Full controller support and Valve Anti-Cheat are enabled. If your group wants a mix of modes in one evening, Campaign and Multiplayer sit alongside Zombies in the same install, so nobody has to swap games to get what they want.
