A hero shooter where plants fight back
Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 is a third-person team shooter with a cartoon look and plenty of humor. Dr. Zomboss has taken over Suburbia and turned it into a zombie-run town, so the plants are going on the offensive to win it back. You pick from 14 playable character classes, including 6 added in this game, and there are more than 100 playable plants and zombies drawn from the past, present and future of the series. The fighting takes place across 12 maps packed with personality, from Zombossified city blocks to crowded airspace, with hidden secrets tucked into the scenery.
Playing together with your group
Herbal Assault is the big online mode: 24 players split between plants and zombies fighting over Suburbia. If your group wants something smaller, you can team up in 4-player co-op, picking the same side and taking on challenges together. Solo play is an option too when only one person is around. The Backyard Battleground is your group's shared hub, holding daily quests and challenges for up to 4 people, plus chances to meet the PvZ characters. Character customization is a big part of the fun, so expect your group to spend time on skins and accessories between matches.
What to know before starting
This is a shooter with team-based play at its core, so matches work best when your group picks sides and sticks to them. The Deluxe Edition bundles in extra content: the Grass Effect Z7 Imp and Mech variant, exclusive accessory packs for a plant class and a zombie class, a Phenomenal Character Variant Pack, 200,000 coins, a Starter Pack, and an Emoji Pack. The game supports controller play, which suits the casual, cartoonish tone. Online co-op and online PvP are the main ways to play with others, so a stable connection matters for group sessions.
