Two enemies at once
"Bureau of Contacts" is a ghost-hunting game where the place you are standing in is as dangerous as the ghost you came to find. Locations are cursed and each run drops you into a unique environment, so the layout and the threats change every time. You are there to investigate supernatural phenomena, learn what you are dealing with, and deal with it using what the Bureau gives you. The ghost is not a static target either: different ghosts have different temperaments, and each one comes with its own behavior strategy and story, so no two hunts play out the same.
Talking to the ghost is a real mechanic
The ghost's behavior and tactics are driven by a neural network that reacts to what players do and what they say to it. IT sees you, IT hears you, IT talks back, IT reads the context of your words and acts on it. There are no limits on what you can say to the ghost, which cuts both ways: a clever line can turn the situation, and a careless one can make it worse. Keep this in mind when your group decides who does the talking.
Playing as a team
You can hunt alone or with up to three other Bureau agents. Working together means pooling what each of you has learned about the ghost and the location, covering each other during investigations, and combining your tools to reach a shared goal. The arsenal includes magic spells, exorcism rituals, investigation tools and defensive gear, so a team can split roles instead of everyone doing the same thing. Locations are filled with traps, some set by the ghost and some coming from the location itself, so watch where you step and watch each other's backs.
Before you start
Other agents in the Bureau are not guaranteed allies. Betrayal and brutal decisions are part of the job, and someone on your team may sacrifice you for their own goals. Trust is a resource you spend carefully. On the progression side, characters and their abilities grow through trade, storage, experience, rewards and achievements, so runs feed into long-term development. The game is in Early Access, which means things can shift as it develops.
